What a crazy week it’s been. A new child started for daycare this week and oh what a sweet little boy he is. He’s 14 months old and cute as can be and just a whirlwind of activity. He is only coming part time a couple days a week right now so that he can get used to it (and his mother can too). I’m still working on increasing my enrollment and have broken out my Marketing book from Redleaf Press. It seems that word of mouth works better than anything so I have been out and about in my community quite a bit telling everyone about reopening my childcare.

We lost power all day Thursday and let me tell you - that was an adventure with 6 children. Apparently a transformer was hit by lightening in our ferocious storms that morning. One of the joys of living in a very rural area is that it takes all day to fix something it would only take an hour or two in the city. The only thing I was worried about was the food in the fridge and freezer. Of course the kids didn’t mind since I took them to McDonalds for lunch ;)

Then yesterday was one long day. The hubs had surgery on his hand yesterday to have scar tissue removed from a previous injury and to have a cyst removed from another spot. We were at the hospital for 6 hours while the kids got to have fun with friends of ours. The waiting was driving me insane - worrying about him and how it was all going. I was also afraid of the pain he would experience afterwards. 6 years ago he was changing the blade in a cut out knife, slipped and sliced right through the palm of his hand down to the bone. He had to have reconstructive surgery where a plastic surgeon reattached all of the nerves and tendons that he severed. The surgery took over 3 hours and when the nerve block wore off 6 hours later Jeff was in what he described as the worst pain of his life. This time seems to be not as severe but he is still in a lot of pain, poor guy.

I’m taking Little Miss O for a haircut today as Monday is School picture day. We’re hitting a new place as I’m tired of the last place we used to go to. We’d been going there so long they started cutting our hair the way they thought it should be as opposed to the way we wanted it so it’s time to move on. *sigh* It’s so scary trying to find someone to do a good job on your hair.

I have lots of paperwork to get done this weekend and need to get more flyers and such out there for daycare. I need a day off :)
