Update and Review
Well yesterday didn’t go too bad. Except that both of my older children need glasses. For entirely opposite problems. My son is nearsighted and tested out at 20/200 for distances. So he’ll be getting glasses for seeing things far away like the chalkboard at school, the TV/movie screen and eventually he’ll have to wear them when he starts driving in a few years.
My daughter, on the other hand, is farsighted - in one eye. She has perfect 20/20 vision in her right eye but her left eye tested at only 20/70 and she has astigmatism as well. She will be getting glasses that she will need to wear for most work she does save going outside to play. The optometrist also suggested that she will need to wear an eye patch at home when she is doing things like playing on the computer of doing puzzles or creating her artwork. How do you suppose that will affect her perspective to use only one eye? The idea is that it will stimulate the weaker eye to work more. Apparently her right eye has simply been compensating for this limitation so until a formal eye test was done no one, including O had any idea there was a problem.
When I called my sd to let her know we were on our way home she was quite thankful. Apparently 2 of the children had been fighting constantly since I left. I told her to take them outside and let them run around and burn off some of that energy. I have a huge fenced in play yard and I find that when the kids are seeming to get on each other’s last nerve that brining them outside where they don’t have to be near each other so much usually works like a charm. And it tires them out for nap time too. LOL
Sd was on her best behavior yesterday though. None of those cutting remarks or little digs. Maybe she read my post? LOL She doesn’t know about my blog so that’s doubtful but it was kind of funny. She tries really hard - I do have to give her credit for that. She has a tough time of things and has a difficult history. Her mother abandoned her when she was 8 months old. Her husband has abandoned her by getting himself into a fair amount of trouble and being incarcerated for the next 4 years. And she is left to raise her son by herself with no emotional or financial support from his father. She’s a good kid deep down that’s had a lot of tough breaks.
Today ends the first week of J’s new job. I have gotten pretty used to getting up early and am enjoying my new schedule but J is not adjusting quite so well. He’s working very hard at the new job and he’s a bit out of practice. His legs and feet are sore - it’s all a sensation he’s not used to. Today also marks the first time one of our children has gotten up at the same time he left for work. My 3 year old is currently sniggled in my bed watching an episode of Spongebob I had thankfully Tivo’d a while back. She is going to be one crabby little girl by 10am. We might have to bump up naptime a little bit today.
So how was your week?

Well, it sounds like you’ll have lots of glasses to keep track of. Good luck on that. I’m all grown up and spend time each day wondering what I did with my glasses.
It’s so nice to get these problems identified and corrected.
I’m telecommuting from home today, so my weekend is near. When I finish work, I don’t have to get in the car and come home. And I don’t think we have ANY plans. Maybe we’ll get some of that yard work done.

I’ve had glasses since I was three! One eye is near sighted. One eye is far sighted. AND I have astigmatism and lazy eye. I think my eyes are just retarded. I’d be lost without my glasses.
The best part of all your new arrangements that I see here, is that you now have time to blog regularly! wooohoooo

I just got contacts, at a friends suggestion. I love them. They’ll adjust, and your daughters set - more and more men find girls with glasses hot.
My week? Well, it’s better then it was!! That’s good.
