New Beginning
July 9, 2007 |
I’ve decided to put an end to my hiatus. I’ve been through a lot of changes in the last 2 months and I miss the support and feedback of my readers.
I went back to work as a legal assistant at the law firm I had been laid off from in March, but this time for a different attorney. The job was supposed to be temporary until October as the lawyer I was going to work for told me she was changing jobs. I found out after returning that she did not yet have the job she told me she was taking in the fall, it hadn’t even been posted. After a few weeks of working for her I knew it was not a job I could stand for any length of time. She was the type of boss that was never consistent in her expectations and therefore treated her assistant like a drooling moron. How could one possibly do anything right when the definition of what was right changed every five minutes? I’m a bright, capable individual and to be treated that way was beyond frustrating, it was insulting.
So when I was contacted by the wife of the attorney I used to work for and she advised me of a job at the high school I had graduated from, I jumped on the opportunity. They were looking for someone to lead their Admissions Department and with my marketing experience, college admissions staff experience and my alumni status it was a perfect fit.
So that’s where I am now. I accepted the position as Admissions Director at the private Catholic high school I attended 20 years ago. The school is in crisis but I’m optimistic that I can make a difference. And so begins yet another new chapter in my life.
