Calling All Campers!!

July 29, 2004 |

:cld: I’m making my packing list today for our camping trip. The weather’s not looking too bad - you can click on the Wells, ME weather button I put up over on the right and it gives a 10 day forecast. Slight chance of rain but nothing major.

It’s been a few years though since we’ve been camping so I need your help. For all of you veteran campers out there what are those essential things you always have to bring with you? What have you forgotten that you wished you had brought?

    a tent is a good idea ;)

    Funny - we’re going camping this weekend too.

    One thing I think is essential - Cast Iron Pan. They are perfect for throwing right into the camp fire and cooking up anything…

    * rain ponchos * :O
    * plenty of extra propane tanks (they cost double at the camp store)
    * matches (in ziplock bags so they don’t get damp) :crazy:
    * extra towels
    * rope (you never know why, just bring it!)
    Enjoy your trip! We’ll be going camping second week in August.

    A roll of T.P. Never sure of there’ll be any in the outhouses where you’ll be going.

    If the biting flies are out, you might want a misquito netting type head covering.

    Extra batteries for the flashlights. Extra shoes in case you fall into a lake (speaking from experience here..)
    Bandaids for the scrapes; A good walking stick, and a fanny pack or something to hold your bottle of water in while you go hiking.

    A bird book or plant book to ID those things..
    I could go on and on, but soon I’ll get to the kitchen sink.

    I’m not a camping kind of girl, so unfortunately, I can’t give you any advice… In fact, my idea of "roughing it" is Motel 6. ROFL

    Hope you have a great time!
