The Last Day

I wanted to start off by thanking everybody that left comments, IM’d me and emailed me. You all are so supportive and awesome and beautiful and I just can’t thank you enough. It’s hard to know what to say in these situations - I know that first hand - but I really appreciate any words at all. Even if it’s just to say that you don’t know what to say. Just to know you’re thinking of me really makes me feel special.

It’s the last day of school for my kids. They are having a Celebration of Success ceremony this morning that I’m taking the girls to see. Every kid in the school gets an award for something and its fun to see what the teachers come up with. The kids are out at noon and then they don’t go back until the end of August. It’s good and bad. Good because I love having my kids home for the day with me - bad because it gets so loud and hectic in the house with the school age kids I watch for daycare all summer long too. Oh well, it will fly by.

If anyone is interested, I’ve started listing some of my jewelry to sell over at Etsy. It’s a site similar to eBay but it’s exclusively for handmade items. It only costs .10 to list an item so I figure - what have I got to lose? You can view my store at http://preciousjulesvt.etsy.com. Thanks!

Today’s the Day

Nick’s coming home today! Nick’s coming home today! Not that I’m a little excited or anything. Not that I’m a little angsty over the fact that I have not heard from him at all. I told him to call home collect if he needed to talk with us. Doesn’t he know that translates to “Mom needs to hear from you. Call her.” *sigh* Apparently not. I suppose I’ll have to drill one of my daycare moms today. Her mom is one of the teachers on the trip and I’m sure she’s talked with her over the last 2 days. I don’t know if I’ll make it.

So since I know I’m going to be preoccupied all day today I’ll just share a few pictures and one link. Oh I have to tell you the reason for the link first. You know that I get up at the crack of dawn with my husband to get him off to work and enjoy some quiet time for me. Well the other morning I went to hook the dog outside for a bit when he and I heard this noise

Creepy Sound

Scared the crap out of me. It kept going on over and over, drawn out even more so than this sound byte. I swear to god at first I thought it was someone screaming. I had to stand there and listen to it for the longest time before it registered that it wasn’t human. The dog would not move or make a sound. He just sat totally still looking at me like “You aren’t leaving me out here with that, right?” It went on for a good 10 minutes then it just stopped. Thanks to the power of the internet I was able to figure out it was a fox - but OMG I was freaked out. It was right behind my house. I know we live in the country and all and have had coyotes run up and down our driveway at night but that was a first for me. *shudder* I still have the creeps.

So onto cute and cuddly things. See what Jeff found last night?

Alex in the empty water dish

Apparently Alex was upset that there wasn’t any water in the bowl so he figured he could just draw our attention with his cuteness and we would figure it out. It worked. He spends his days running away from all the little girls that want to love him and squeeze him and his nights curled up on my chest while I watch season finales. Olivia still carries him around like a baby everywhere.

Then I gotta show you this drawing I found the other day downstairs in the kids playroom. I was picking up and I saw this sketch pad out. I have always kept sketch pads and various art supplies readily available to my kids so they have some creative outlet at their disposal. And I know that 2 of my girls seem to have their father’s artistic aptitude. But I had no idea how much the youngest did until I saw this

Lauren's drawing

When I saw it I asked Olivia if she had drawn it and she said that it was Lauren’s. Now I know it’s only a face but Lauren just turned 3 at the end of March. Developmentally she’s supposed to be able to start drawing circles. A person drawn by a 3 year old typically does not have many details, if any, drawn in. This person has hair, a nose, mouth, cheeks at the end of the mouth and the eyes are what really blew me away. They have irises and pupils. I had no idea that she even had a concept of those details in anyone’s eyes.

The last thing I wanted to share was another set of earrings I made. They’re sterling silver jump rings I pieced together to get that chain look and I added iolite charms to the bottom. They were time consuming to make but I love the way they look. I just might have to keep them for myself. lol

Jump Ring Earrings

What do you think?

Well I am off to keep myself occupied until tonight when Nick gets home. I’ll be house cleaning, budget planning and blog hopping to help the time go by. Have a fantabulous day!!

Fluff & Stuff

I am in a VERY sleepy fog today. I’m sure it’s just a combination of staying up too late and the dark, ominous looking sky in the distance this morning.

The View Out My Front Door

I knew I was in trouble when I spent much longer than usual reading the entertainment news. See every morning after Jeff leaves for work, I fire up my laptop so I can get a post written. It’s the best time of day for me as the writing will be uninterrupted. But I’m usually so groggy at first that I start up my IM programs and read the little celebrity news blurbs until I can feel the fluff warming my brain. Then things start to clarify and ideas and words are generated. Not today though people. I know way more about Brittany Spears than I care to - ugh!

So today I’ll just share a little fluff of my own. With pictures! Aren’t you glad you stopped in? The most important thing in our house right now is the cute little baby kitten. He found his purr motor last night and every time you touch him know he starts going. And going. The coolest observation Jeff made about getting Olivia a kitten? “She really feels special since we got her that kitten.” Worth it. Totally. And see the picture below? I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.

I think she’s pretty happy with us too. Yesterday she brought us home the paper below. Makes me feel like we are so doing things right. Forgive me while I break my arm patting myself on the back. lol

Olivia's School Paper

It reads “I love you Mom and Dad xoxoxoxoxox and I will owes (always) love you. and you love me forevre and ever.” I think we done good. No?

The last little bit I will share today happened when I had to run out to the store last night. I had on a necklace and earrings I had made for myself a few weeks back. The clerk that rang up my sale complimented me on them and went on and on about how much she liked them. When I told her I made them she asked if I sold jewelry and I told her I didn’t but I had been thinking of it. She said if I decided to I should come back and see her and show her what I have - she would totally buy stuff from me. Woot!! So I opened an account at www.etsy.com last night and I think I’m going to list some jewelry there today. Nothing to lose right? Here’s what I was wearing last night

Frog Necklace and Earrings

Nothing special - just a casual set. With running a daycare I am in jeans and t-shirts most of the time so I wanted some jewelry I could wear regularly that wouldn’t look too dressy for what I was wearing. I made a necklace like mine for my stepdaughter too that has a butterfly charm and red stones. She wears it every time I see her in casual clothes. She wears the Blue & Silver Set when she’s going out.

That’s it for me. I need to get off my butt and get going anyway before my house implodes from neglect. Have a great day!
