Diaper Dilemma and Shopping Carts
May 18, 2004 |
:clddrk-lghtng2: Scary weather coming in later this afternoon. Severe thunderstorms and even the possibility of high winds or a tornado. I know, tornado in VT? And they are very rare but we are right on the VT/NY border and there have been tornados, albeit small ones, near Albany which is only an hour from us. We have Nick’s spring music concert at school tonight - I sure hope that building is stable. LOL
I had to take the kids over to the grocery store last night for a quick errand of forgotten dinner ingredients and wouldn’t you know they didn’t have any of the kid friendly shopping carts. You know the ones with the red seats attached so your larger families can easily restrain their youngest children and only chase half the brood around the store instead of all? I love those things, made shopping with the 4 kids not so scary a prospect for me.
The thing that irritated me the most? When I did see someone using one of those carts it was an individual with only one child and that one child had to be about 8 or 9 years old. The child didn’t even fit in the red seat! Now I know these carts are for the general public and anyone can use them but these families with older, only children - did it not occur to them that the reason there are 2 seats on the attachment is because they are meant for families with more than one child? Does a light bulb go on for them at all when they see me pushing one cart filled with children and pulling another along behind me that I need a better system for shopping? You’re right I do - the red cart!! LOL
Well we got our stuff okay anyway and Elizabeth only stepped on the chicken 10 or 15 times so it was very tender when we grilled it up for dinner last night. So if you’re at the grocery store and you see someone with a grown kid with their ass hanging half off the seat and their feet dragging on the floor, stop them and let them know there’s some poor mother with 4 young children a couple of aisles over that could really use that cart as it was intended ![]()

I agree totally!!! I have seen this exact thing before. People using the carts that don’t need them. Luckily I have always found one. Knock on wood!
Aww…bless your heart.
I sure hope the storm doesn’t get too bad for you guys.. take care
GAWD I hate that! I could never get a 2 seaters when the twins were little! People have no consideration…
I would be the Mom that never uses that cart no matter how badly Faith wants to drive in it. I tell her that it is for Mom’s with lots of kiddos. I will start spreading the word for ya..giggle..giggle! Huggers!
OMGosh, I have so been there! I too, have 4 kids (6 and under) and I’ve had to cram three into the cart, while seeing someone with one kid, and only a couple items, using the big cart… Made me so mad! LOL!… We came home with a mostly flat loaf of bread….
Hugs
