~*~ Friday, August 1, 2003 ~*~

Well only 4 more hours at most and I am on vacation. It is pouring rain and the kids have been fighting all day. Like I’m not burnt out enough already. LOL The one saving grace is we got a new chest freezer and I put the box and all the large styrofoam pieces out in centers today and the kids have had a lot of fun with those building forts and working on them with tools, etc. It’s always fun to watch their imaginations at work.

Jeff’s daughter came down for dinner last night and it was so good to see her and so sad at the same time. She is living in a tent in a campground and on many occasions is eating at the Foodshelf or the Salvation Army. She swears she is still not with the boyfriend and I hope it’s true. Jeff offered to her last night that if she comes back to our area we will help her get set up in an apartment. Last night she said no but she just called and said if the offer is still open she’d like to talk about it. I think she’s at the breaking point as far as not having a job or a real place to live. The good thing about seeing her is that I could tell she’s not using drugs or drinking. She looked okay, a little skinny, but clear headed and talking intelligently. I suspect now that the boyfriend was the one on drugs and that is what he spent all their money on. She’s on her way here now. My parents would always help me if I needed it and I think it’s the right thing, the Christian thing for us to do to help her. She’s made a lot of mistakes and doesn’t need us judging her too. We are her family, we are supposed to love her no matter what. I just hope she gets on track this time.

Hi Julie, one day of vacation over. I hope it was a good one and you are enjoying it! I will be praying for you stepdaughter. Giving a help is right, being family we have to help each other. Just not a handout. She sounds very independent and that is good. just needs some good directioning I bet. Sending lost of ~hugs~ your way!
