Graceful As A…
November 30, 2005 |
Well if you read yesterday’s entry you know the day got off to a rocky start. I did my best not to be bitchy and for the most part was doing okay. Until I was going down the stairs yesterday afternoon.
We had finished lunch and I had picked up after the kids and was on my way downstairs to the preschool room. Right before I stepped onto the landing one of the little girls called to me from the bottom of the stairs. My staircase has about 8 steps a landing/return and then another 8 steps. It’s a split level house so the landing is also the entry way for the front of the house.
Anyway I turned to look at her as I was stepping down and I stepped right on someones boot. That was laying sideways on the floor. And rolled my foot over the top of it. And fell on my face on the floor. While my ankle did a series of *pop pop pop pop*.
The doctor says it’s not broken - just a bad sprain. So I get to wear an Air Cast. And chase after 5 children today under the age of 3. By myself.
The hubs had to go out of town to help out his daughter so it’s just me hobbling after the kids. It’s been so long since I’ve sprained an ankle I’d forgotten how freaking much it hurts. I couldn’t even hardly sleep last night. Every time I turned over my foot would get cranked in a certain way that would hurt so much it would wake me up. It didn’t help that the hubs and I stayed up until almost midnight watching “Breaking Away”. I love that movie and could watch it over and over. I can’t get over how young Dennis Quaid is in that movie. But I digress.
So I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night either. Add that to the night before and I am one tired chick. Espresso anyone? We’re moving on the hard stuff today ![]()

That sounds exactly like me the other night when I had to take my puking dog outside. Only it was MY boot I tripped over and it was my knee that I landed on. Which still hurts if I press on it. I hope you feel better soon!!
awww you poor thing, I can just imagine the pain. Ask your hubby to massage it for you.
gentle massage, but wait til tomorrow, and take an asprin first. You want to make sure the acute inflamation is down before he rubs it, or your rubs it - just so you don’t accidently make it worse.
(just my humble proffesional opinon)
Sorry to hear you got hurt. That sucks. I have a bad wrist and ankle from a terrible tumble I took at work last summer (remember last summer and the uncertain breakage/spain mess?). This weather is making them both ache. My thoughts are with you. Heal well!
wow I can not spell after 1am. Sorry about that! off to bed!
Ouch! Hope it feels better soon.
Oh yeah hon, BOTH the vodka and the Merlot! You poor thing! That hurts like a bugger! Here’s to some relief and a good nights sleep!
