Happy New Year My Friends

January 2, 2004 |

Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a wonderfully fun and safe New Years celebration. Ours was quiet with the children and everyone but the baby and I were in bed before midnight but that’s alright. Lauren and I watched the ball drop in Times Square and then went to sleep ourselves.

Jeff and I both had yesterday off and he played on the computer all day while I cleaned and took down the Christmas decorations. I’m always glad to get the house back to normal after the holidays. It wears thin pretty quickly.

In the afternoon I took off for a trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and to try and find the Memory Card that goes to the Gamecube that Santa forgot to get for Nicholas. *blushing* Oops!! After 4 stores I was starting to get frustrated. Finally at the last store I tried they had a bunch of them and there was a line wrapped around the store. They were too high for me to reach and the only clerks in the store were at the registers so I had to wait in line and then was helped by a guy with such a lovely post-holiday attitude. It went something like this:

“Hi, I’d like to get a Memory Card for a Gamecube”

“They’re over there” *points towards the back wall*

“I know but I can’t reach them. They’re up to high.”

“Well, I’m not any taller than you so I probably can’t reach them either.”

“Well, is there someone else that can get one down or do you have a stepstool or something?”

“I’ll just give it a whirl myself.”

Shrimpy clerk boy goes over to the wall where they are, stretches up, and uses his pen to catch it on the bottom edge and knock it off the peg. He catches it as it falls. My hero. He takes it back to the register, rings it up, watches me pull out my checkbook and start filling out a check and then says:

“We don’t accept checks.”

To which I reply:

“That figures.”

I pay by credit card and leave. What an unbelievable experience. But I got the memory card. And Nick didn’t play with his Gamecube at all last night. Or at all so far today. *Sigh*

That would have sucked if you’d waited in line all that time and all you had was a check to pay with. Don’t you wonder why people with such crappy attitudes work with the public? They should stay in back and do invetory or something LOL
    Happy new year!

Oh Julie I do hope everyone is getting alot better. So glad you got an all night sleep the other night!! Woohoo.. I tell you shopping today is just no fun. People are so rude and some of them deliberately. One thing that stands out for me is that no one will move their carts out of the way after they’ve unloaded them!! Happens to me in the grocery store alot, till I’ve gotten to where I dread going and then today it happened in the dollar store!! Older women too. It’s so sad. Love ya sweets.. Every get well and stay well and warm!! ~hugs~
