His Suffering Has Ended
February 19, 2007 |
Our cat Face left this world last night. My two oldest kids woke up and found him dead on the floor this morning. He was doing better too. I don’t know what changed. It had been an uphill battle for the last two months though. Now he’s at peace.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

My children find great comfort in the idea that Face is now with Jake and Peanut along with his mom and siblings.

awwww.. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. (((HUG)))
I am so sorry - we lost our cat several months ago, and I still swear I hear him now and then, then I have to remember he’s gone.
I think my husband took it harder than any of us, and he was the tough one all along.
{{hugs to all your family}}
Oh Jules, I’m so sorry. Your whole family is in my prayers. Its good to know that hes with family and friends though, and that he wont ever be sick again. Big hugs to you all!
awww sorry Jules, poor puddy tat!
Oh so hard, but I know he’s in a better place where there is no pain, and hopefully Jake and Peanut (and my Scruffy and Tinkerbell and Joy) to play with.
I’m glad that your children have a good perspective on the life cycle.
And my heart is with you - I know how hard it is.
Big hug
So sorry your cat died. But it’s good that there is no more suffering to be endured.
Last Friday, Don buried Mister, a stray cat who has lived in our yard for the last 10 years. She was such a sweetie, and I have no idea how old she was. For an outdoor cat, she had a good and long life.
It’s sad when you lose a pet.
I’ll be posting a picture of her early next week.
