I Give

January 11, 2007 |

I freely give myself over to the universe and all its evil whims.

I give - do you hear me? You win! I absolutely, positively give up.

  1. My van needs a new water pump
  2. The warranty may/may not cover it
  3. I’m being sued and possibly going bankrupt
  4. My 4 year old daughter is having a terrible time at daycare
  5. My husbands brother has been in the hospital for nearly a week and it’s pretty serious
  6. My mother was taken by ambulance to the hospital and they think there’s a problem with her liver

I found about the last one this morning. At work. My father called me at the office to recount his story from the night before and the hell week that they’ve been going through. He tells me of the doctor’s potential diagnosis and then tells me not to worry because we don’t know anything for certain yet. Yeah. Okay Dad. Whatever you say.

I don’t think I can take anymore. I feel like a rubber band that has been pulled as taut as it will go without breaking and I’m hovering at that brink. I just want to crawl into bed or a bottle - either will do at this point. Stick a fork in me - I’m done.

Oh, man. Sometimes throwing our hands up is the best we can do. I’m thinking of you, your mom and your brother in law. And your four year old. Hang in there.

So many problems - and all at once. I hope the ones that can, resolve themselves.

You’ve got prayers and best wishes coming from here.

    Cas

I received this in my daily inspiration today, thought I should share it with you!

Blessings often give rise to injury, so be careful when things are going your way. Success may be achieved after failure, so don’t just give up when you’ve been disappointed.

this is a comment in response to your Jan 2 post about money, I don’t know if you go back and look at the old ones or not and didn’t want you to miss this… I’ve so been there and done that with the finances!

I am also in TN and I went through Dave Ramsey’s financial peace university this past summer. I’ve always been just the same way that you are describing… no will power to do the right thing with saving and spending. I have listened to DR for forever and thought I was following his steps to some degree, but we never went totally on a cash based, zero balance budget… It’s not easy, but it’s so much better than worrying at the grocery store how much money I have and if I just spent the money for the electric bill… We haven’t used credit cards for years now (but we are still paying the old stuff off). I used debit cards and checks all the time, but that doesn’t give you an up to the minute idea of what you’ve spent, and I would always have spent more than what I was thinking… now I look in the envelope and it tells me exactly what I have left to spend. It takes a lot of the pressure out of money. It’s still not easy, but MUCH less stressful.

I hope you can find the answers you need. I’ve never read here, but just clicked in today for the first time… good luck

Dear God I pray you bring peace into Jules’ life right now. I pray that she will look to you as the lifter of her head and as her tower of strength. I pray that You will meet her needs and turn every situation around for Your glory. In Jesus name I ask and I thank You for the answers.
    Amen
