…or the post where it becomes apparent I need my head examined. Or my eye. Or my head.

Okay, so the playground helped some on Saturday - except for when my stepdaughter’s 4-year-old son dropped his pants and started peeing in the middle of the playground. I was mortified. On the inside. We had only been there for 5 minutes. I couldn’t exactly make my girls leave so I told him that we only pee in the potty, in the bathroom. Not the great outdoors. Then I pretended it never happened.

The other part of my story is about the boy. 10 days ago he came to live with us at the request of the State. Apparently my stepdaughter hadn’t been taking very good care of him or his baby sister (2 months old) so they moved the kids and are helping her get her act together. So now I have 5 children instead of 4. Because I am a glutton people, a certifiable glutton.

I know it’s the right thing to do but it’s hard. So very hard. His little sister is with her paternal grandparents. While I am certifiable I am not drooling on the floor stupid. There is no way we could have handled an infant in addition to the 5 and both still worked full time. I know people have done it and continue to do it but we are not those people. And we feel guilty for it. But not too guilty. She’s in a good place.

Of course, I used to hate Mondays. But now they are a haven of peace and quiet. By comparison anyway. I work in a high school so quiet is a relative term.

So if you need me for anything, I’ll be the one with my door locked and the lights off willing time to go slooooow until it’s time to go home. Because the chaos - it’s killing me. I’ve had a headache for 5 days now and seem to have a blowout in the white of my eye.

Can you see it? Does it mean I’m having a stroke? I hope not. I know my husband cannot handle those children alone. How do I know? Because I can’t. And you know if I can’t - then he’s totally screwed.

I think you’re right Jules, you’ve got 4 children of your own and realistically I think I’d struggle too.

Hey Stranger long time no see!!!! I’ve missed you!!! Huge hugs about the current family situation. You are doing all you can, and then some, dont feel too guilty about not taking the baby as well. You are doing a great job. You are a great person for even taking one extra! I hope you stepdaughter can get her stuff worked out soon.

As for the eye??? Cant really see it too much to give you my “professional” medical opinion, but it looks like a small broken blood vessel, probably nothing to worry bout. Does it hurt? Good news for your hubby! There is no way mine could manage the kids without me either. However…. if you and I pretended to have a stroke maybe we could get locked up in a niiiiccccee quiet hospital somewhere for awhile… Just a thought…

    Hugs, hang in there!!!
