One of Them Days

January 6, 2004 |

Have you ever had one of those days where you hit the ground running and never seem to catch up all day long? Of course you have and they suck don’t they? LOL

I left the kitchen a mess last night so I got up early to have extra time before the daycare kids get here to clean up. The only thing I got accomplished early at all was making Nick’s lunch. Once Jeff and Nicholas were awake it was all over but the crying. Nick wanted help getting dressed, then wanted something difficult to eat not just something like toast and cereal, but eggs, bacon, home fries and an English muffin. Yeah right. With 5 minutes before he’s getting picked up for school I’m going to start eggs and stuff for breakfast? I think not.

Then Jeff is just shuffling around undoing every bit of picking up that I have done just like one of the children. “Will you please go to work already?!?!?!?!?!” Then has the nerve to complain that the coffee I got for him was too full and asking to add one last bag to the curb for trash day was “messing up his plan” whatever the grand plan was. To hang around and do nothing for as long as possible is my guess. LOL

Then before I know it the phone’s ringing and one of the parents want to watch her little boy while she goes to some meetings today - her one day off in the week - the one day I get off from her delightful little terror :) But alas I have Christmas bills to pay. So I said “Sure, no problem.” “It’ll only be for about an hour” she says. Fast forward to the phone call 2 hours later that says “Would it be all right if I pick him up after lunch?” Drop ins pay by the hour so I said “Sure, no problem” through my clenched teeth.

Meanwhile the oil man comes with my heating oil delivery and he wants to chat a bit about how insane I must be to have all of these kids at my house every day. All of the daycare parents are VERY chatty while dropping off their kids too. Now I don’t mind talking with them and solidifying a relationship with them but do they not hear the children screaming and crying?!?!?! Apparently not as they just continue on with their conversations like nothings happening in my house.

So we make it through lunch, my “extra” child gets picked up and then I finally get all of the kids settled and quiet for nap. No small feat considering there are 7 of them ages 6 months - 4 years. Just as I settle in for a little email and vegetation/refueling time - the Schwan’s guy shows up 3 days early with that god awful loud refrigerator truck. I have to go outside, remind him “You wake em, you take em” and ask him to come back later since he was 3 days early!!!! He tells me that he’ll try but he can’t make any promises. Whatever!!!!

I’m behind on laundry, the woodstove went out, the kids are all fighting, I haven’t even eaten lunch yet and I am stressed beyond stress today!!!!! LOL Boy do I need some Calgon or Valium or something. ROFL I actually feel loads better getting it all out. I’m off to get some lunch and go visit some blogs.
