July 5, 2003 |

I hope everyone had a nice July 4th celebration. Ours was quiet but that’s really how I wanted it this year. We did do a nice big cook out for us. We had burgers and hot dogs, ribs, brats, corn on the cob, pasta salad, the kids roasted marshmallows afterwards, it was great. Then we can see the local fireworks display right off our back deck so we got to hang out in our comfy chairs at our own house and enjoy the show without the crowds. It’s a lot easier that way with very young children also.
Well I ended up going to the Dr.’s on Thursday as I got a very strange looking rash on my back to go along with my fever, headache and body aches. It turns out that I was apparently bitten by a tick and most likely have Lyme Disease. If you click on this link it will take you to the CDC’s site on Lyme Disease and the picture they show looks just like my back. The Doctor can’t do a test to confirm until 6 weeks after exposure because it takes that long for antibodies to build. I have been put on antibiotics and will have to remain on them for 4 weeks. I am finally starting to feel better today but still don’t have much energy to speak of and my knees are the one joint area that still feel pretty uncomfortable. I also have rashes now in 2 new spots which follows right along with Lyme Disease so given that I have every symptom I must have it
The more I read about the more concerned I become. It looks like there are a lot of potential long term effects but hopefully this was caught early enough that I will be fine.
So other than that nothing new and unusual going on in my life. LOL I am enjoying a 4 day weekend. I don’t go back to work until Tuesday. I need this time off to try and get some strength back and to do some major laundry. LOL Things fall apart pretty fast when Mom is down for the count.
Well speaking of that laundry I’d better get back to it.
Until next time…

Oh Julie am so glad that your being treated!! We have lots of ticks so and I’ve pulled some off me, but so far have not had any problems. I am worried for you and will keep you in prayer!! You know we can see our town fireworks display too from our house so that is what we usually do too. I didn’t this year. as the misquitos are driving me crazy so I don’t go outside much except to let P.L. out. Your BBQ sounded yummy, we ate good too and are enjoy Cliff and Val’s visit so much. Take care sweetie and keep me posted on how your doing! ~hugs~
Julie, I’m so glad they figured out what it is and that they are treating you for it! My neighbor had Lyme’s disease and the doctors didn’t know what it was for a long time. She is having a really tough time with it now.
