Things Are Looking Up

September 19, 2005 |

Well I survived yesterday. There were only a few comments and except for one WTF? I remained pretty well intact. To give you an idea what she’s like Jeff’s Mom dropped off an old coffee table to us yesterday. We don’t really need it but it’s been in Jeff’s family since before he was born so he really wanted to keep it. It is certainly showing it’s age but it’s nice and it means a lot to Jeff so I’m cool with it. My Mom walks in, takes one look at it and says

“Oh a coffee table. Where’d you get it?” I tell her and she responds with “Well I hope you’re going to refinish it.”

We just got it 1/2 an hour before she got there, we hadn’t exactly sat down and thought out the life span of this table. I can’t even afford to get groceries right now thanks to a colossal screw up on the part of my current employer and her bank. Everything else in my house is Early American Showing It’s Wear - why would I change this table?

But on a more positive note, I got another call for daycare today and it was from another former family. I made a decision that I was not going to call former families as I didn’t want other providers in the area to think I was trying to take their clients away. I would be pissed if it were done to me. So I’ve just posted my fliers and updated all of my state paperwork with resource and referral and keep putting up flyers wherever I can. Thanks to these the 3rd return family called today and are starting next week. Woohoo!! Now I have 4 families enrolled and should be about at the point to comfortably resign my other position and in light of the recent paycheck fiasco - I really want to tell her to shove her job where the sun don’t shine

I absolutely love the new look!!! I’m usually a lurker, but just felt I had to comment this time.

I am so glad you reopened your daycare, you sound happier in the last few posts than you have in a long time. I think you made the right decision. (not that it matters what I think really!) :) anyway, just wanted to say how great your site looks, how great you sound, and congrats on all your new kids for daycare!

    Take care,
    Stacie

wow that’s great about the daycare….shows how much they loved you eh!

so how many kids will you take in total? I’ve got three in total all day, and 7 for about 40 minutes after school (including my own) It’s all I can handle. I’d thought about taking on a couple more full timers during school hours, but my nerves couldn’t take it I don’t think.

The hardest part of this job is never having a break all day long.

congratulations on the day care progress.

And I think you should hand your mother a can of stripper and some rags.
