Too Cold Even For Penguins

January 14, 2004 |

32 degrees below zero this morning. Did you know that people could still live at these extreme temperatures? I didn’t - but I am still alive. LOL I went and started Jeff’s truck for him this morning (he woke up with a migraine so it’s the least I could do) and I could barely even push the clutch in. It took forever to turn over and when it finally did it sputtered a big cloud of black smoke. It was almost impossible to shift into neutral to let the truck warm up and even after 20 minutes Jeff sad he could still hardly shift it on the way to work.

I have a question. What would possess a parent to buy their child an orange soda to drink at 7am? Am I being too harsh and judgmental? I really don’t think so. Just for informational purposes I’ll let you know that this is the same family that the child was going to make his father purchase a nebulizer because another child had one se he needed to have one too. Why do parents allow the children to run everything? I know not all parents do that but the ones that do what do they think they’re teaching their kids? What is she teaching her son about nutrition? nothing at all. Orange soda for breakfast? There goes her mother of the year award. LOL If the kid throws a hissy fit when you stop at the store in the morning and you felt that you just have to buy him a soda, why not just stop at the store after you drop him off? It will save time, a scene and money. I don’t get it.

Okay, a mosquito just flew right into my face. Where the heck would a mosquito be living in VT in January? There’s no stagnant water that I know of anywhere right now because everything’s FROZEN SOLID!!! I think I’m going to hibernate until spring.

OH.MY.God. That doesn’t even seem real! I cannot fathom that kind of cold. Wrap up girl!
You should see my neighbor with her 4 year old. That kid is queen of that house and she won’t let you forget it! I think esp. a lot of working parents have problems. They feel guilty for being away all day or something and think they’re making up for it by being indulgent.

I agree, Julie: I didn’t even keep soda in the house much less be forced by a child to buy it! It appeared for the occasional picnic in the summer and then only in small amounts! We didn’t do 6 tons of milk either! That Killington rescue is unreal. Why would the parents allow their teens to ski on a day like yesterday? I just don’t understand some parents! ~BIG HUGS~
