Wait & See
That’s what the doc said today. He said he felt confident that there was nothing serious wrong. One of the nodes isn’t even considered swollen because of how small it is and the other one is extremely small and just barely considered swollen. I don’t have any fevers, night sweats, weight loss, loss of appetite. All of blood tests were normal.
Just to be on the safe side though he decided to check my ears, nose & throat (hence his specialty). Do you know how they check your nose and throat? Well let me tell you. First he tells you that he’s going to squirt some gross tasting medicine IN YOUR NOSE. This offending liquid runs down the back of your throat, ringing familiar of Cloriseptic in the old sore throat days. Then the whole nasal cavity and the throat go numb.
And no for the piece de resistance. He pulls out this long thin black wire with a little pen light on the end. And do you know where he put that? IN MY NOSE! And DOWN MY THROAT. Now I have a strong gag reflex as it is but this was horrifying. Have you ever snaked a drain before or seen it done? This man snaked my nose. Holy shit it was awful!!
But in the end it simply told him that there were no tumors in my nose or my throat at all. Good news of course. Worth the snake? Well……the jury’s still out on that one. He wants to see me back in 3 months to check on it unless I sense a change or become sick. He felt that I’ve mostly had a rough summer of allergies because of all the rain. Apparently rain aggravates allergies and all that drainage is quite likely what plugged up the node. Contrary to my primary care’s sub insistence that the 2 CANNOT be related - asswipe.
I think his assessment is reasonable and I’m comfortable with it so we’ll just - wait & see. See you in 3 months – on this topic anyway
Thanks everybody for all your good vibes. They made all the difference.

I put a good word in with the big guy. We are on a first name basis ya know.

Ok the whole snaked nose thing kind of freaked me out. OUCH! There is no freaking way I would be able to do that. You are a much stronger woman than I! Take good care!

ROFLMBO!! There is NO WAY I could do that!
You know what, though? They did that to Carleigh! And she didn’t even get the numbing stuff. They just put it in her nose and checked things out. Then the doctor even let me look. It’s very strange-looking in there… that’s for sure!

omg! I had that "snake thing" done a couple of years ago! I agree, it is the grossest thing ever. Ummm..what can make someone WANT to go into a profession that you go crawling around in people’s noses? Other than money, I mean..

I feel for you. Being sick takes on a whole new level of scary when you’ve got kids. I had a skin-cancer scare last month, and it really wigged me out. Turned out to be nothing, thank God, but the waiting just about killed me.
