Today Lauren is 4 months old! I can’t believe that it’s been that long since we raced to the hospital thinking she was so early when she wasn’t - little stinker! LOL
The National Weather Service confirmed 2 tornados touched down in the communities I wrote about yesterday. One of them touched down twice doing the most damage the second time. That’s just a little too close to home for me.
I had a pretty crazy morning. Jeff called me a little after 8 this morning to tell me that his daughter that’s 19 needed our help. Seems she and her boyfriend had a fight, broke up and he took all of her money. I say her money because she was the only one working. So anyway Jeff’s about to head out on the road for the day and his boss was already hassling him for the personal call from her and then making one to me - so he asked me if I could find a way to wire her some money. Now at 8:30 this morning I had 7 children in my house and only have a car that seats 5. He gave me the number where she was and I called her. It was a Foodshelf
Seems they lost their apartment a while back as he won’t get a job and would go through their money like water. They were living in a tent in a campgrounds
So now this dirtbag has left her with no gas in her car, no food, no money and she doesn’t get paid until Friday. She had found someone to stay with - a friend - but asked if we could help her out with “just like $10 so I can put gas in my car”. So I got someone to come stay with the kids and I went and wired her some money.
We probably should have been tough with her given all the problems we have had with her and not sent her anything but neither of us can live with the image of her homeless or penniless when we can do something to help. We will probably always get taken advantage of for this reason but we would do it again. That’s just who we are. Family always helps family. We are and always will be a team.
Until next time…
