I survived and so did the kids. It warmed up, dried up a lot of the mud and the sun even came out for a while. No rain after all - phew! Of course, I did forget the camera, and the bags for the kids to put the eggs in, and the lawn tractor keys for my fil since he’s repairing ours. Oh and my brakes nearly gave out when we were at the bottom of my mil’s driveway. And my husband is so sick he could barely stay awake.

But the kids got lots of eggs/candy. They laughed a lot. The food was excellent and so was the company. I love going to big family gatherings like that even if it isn’t my own family. The people whose house we were at are well known in the community for their large family and giving spirits. It was really an honor to be included.

The kids did see the Easter Bunny and they got bubbles and stickers and chinese yoyo’s and crayons and coloring books and pencils and whistles and all kinds of junk. The kids got to see horses and goats and sheep and cows. We explored all over the farm. I love the country. I have been to the city and even lived in the city but the country calls me back every time. It’s a simpler, more honest way of living. And I so want my kids to grow up in a community where everyone knows them and looks out for them. There’s nothing like it.

Since I forgot my camera I made them pose for a picture here at home:

My Easter Bunnies

From left to right we have E and L in the front and O and N in the back. Yes E has her pants unbuttoned but, well, she gets so freaked out about unbuttoning her pants to make it to the bathroom in time that we just let her go around home with them unbuttoned like that.

So now I’m kicking back with a cold Killians and I’ll be starting supper soon. We’re going to grill some hamburgers and I’m going to make a big tossed salad to go along with it. Holidays can be so fun - sometimes I forget.
